01 / The transformation

Same business.
Different first impression.

Two real homepage captures. The original was archived in January 2025; the redesign shows the new presentation. Open either image to inspect the complete page.

02 / Starting point

Built on what was already there.

Based in Silsden near Keighley, Cobbydale Construction works on extensions, renovations and new builds across the surrounding area. Its previous website had been in use for approximately a decade when the redesign began.

The original site made phone numbers and contact options easy to find, gave visitors routes to core services and displayed company details and trade credentials. It also had an existing WordPress blog with content worth retaining.

The opportunity was to show more of Cobbydale’s services and completed work, establish a clearer visual hierarchy and give the site a more coherent presentation—without losing the useful parts of what was already there.

03 / The design

A clearer view of the work.

01 / Design decision

A stronger first impression

From a compact split banner to a confident architectural introduction.

The old homepage introduced New Builds and Extensions in a compact split banner. The redesign gives photography and typography more room, making the main offering easier to grasp at a glance.

Services made more visible

A broader picture of the work, without needing to open the navigation.

A dedicated service grid brings more of Cobbydale’s capabilities onto the homepage, with links to individual services. It lets visitors discover the breadth of the company’s work before deciding what to explore next.

More evidence of the work

Projects and existing articles become part of the homepage story.

Larger project photography, an image gallery and recent blog articles give visitors more to examine than a description of services alone. The contact section follows that introduction to the business.

04 / What changed. What stayed.

Modernised, not discarded.

Behind the visual redesign was a measured approach to the blog, existing pages and links.

01
Retained

The blog stayed

Cobbydale continued using its established WordPress installation to publish articles; replacing the wider site did not require replacing its publishing system.

02
Updated

The theme changed

The WordPress theme was updated to align the blog’s presentation with the redesigned PHP website.

03
Integrated

Articles came forward

The PHP homepage displays recent WordPress posts. Server-side caching and fallbacks support the feed if the blog is temporarily unavailable.

04
Mapped

Relevant links kept working

Most old pages had one-to-one equivalents. Where addresses changed, targeted redirects sent visitors to the relevant replacements rather than generally sending them to the homepage.

05 / The finished website

More room for Cobbydale's work.

The finished website gives Cobbydale a more expansive presentation of its services and projects, while keeping WordPress in place for ongoing publishing. The old and new screenshots show the visual change; the blog integration and URL mapping explain how the transition was handled.
