I began programming as a hobby, building small browser-based games, including multiplayer board games. I enjoyed creating something interactive and working through the problems involved in making it function.
While working at Cobbydale Construction, I saw how difficult it was becoming to manage enquiries and keep track of jobs using paper-based records. I began developing an internal application to help organise the work, which became part of the company's everyday operations. After leaving Cobbydale, I was approached to redesign its website. That project gave me the opportunity to work independently and consider how the business presented itself to customers.
I established Arkenloft shortly afterwards, with the completed website as the starting point for the studio's portfolio. Those experiences still shape how I approach projects. I've worked on both the software used within a business and the website its customers see, and I bring that understanding to design and development together.
